Corporation Street
Situated in the heart of Rochester, the Corporation Street development includes the provision of 89 dwellings in four blocks, situated on two sites with associated communal facilities, parking, services, external and highway works.
CCE successfully undertook and delivered the construction of substructure works, drainage, and highway works incorporating hard landscaping across all four individual substantial blocks of flats.
Key Issues and how they were managed:
- The works comprise the construction of substructure works, drainage, and Highway works incorporating hard landscaping for four individual substantial blocks of flats.
- The construction works were carried out between a dual carriageway and the South eastern Network Rail main line between Ramsgate and London Victoria. Traffic management arrangements were implemented on the dual carriageway to accommodate the construction of new vehicular access and statutory service installations. Care and consideration was given to include pedestrian walkways within the restricted zones and traffic flows were maintained at all times to ensure that scheduled bus routes were maintained.
- During the installation of the hard landscaping finishes along the frontage of the new blocks of flats pedestrian routes were maintained at all times using solid Chapter 8 barriers.
- Potential trip hazards were mitigated by proprietary anti slip trench covers and temporary macadam ramps.
- Communication and compliance for working adjacent to the Network Rail boundary was adhered too with specific lifting plans highlighting prohibited working zones.
