Chartway Civil Engineering (CCE), part of the Chartway Partnerships Group, is delighted to announce its appointment as the preferred partner for an exciting new project. Following an intense and highly competitive tender process, CCE has been entrusted with a pivotal role in supporting the development of a brand-new Aldi store on the Isle of Sheppey.
This appointment reflects Chartway Civil Engineering’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and its track record in the construction industry. With an history spanning 33 years, Aldi has established itself as the UK’s fourth-largest and fastest-growing supermarket chain, navigating the competitive terrain of the food retail sector with remarkable success.
CCE’s winning proposal, driven by its in-house highways and surfacing team, offered a competitive pricing structure encompassing a comprehensive scope of works, ranging from essential store civils works, packages for S278 highways works, site-wide surfacing, and the creation of a 1.5km cycleway on Queenborough Road.
In a partnership with Camford Construction Management, CCE has adopted the Construction Management procurement route, aligned with Aldi’s preferences for new build construction projects. This collaboration has culminated in the award of a substantial trade contract which is targeted for completion within 26-weeks.
Aldi’s enduring commitment to growth and expansion remains evident. The company’s ambitious vision to establish 1,500 stores across the UK is well on track, with plans to open an additional 20 new stores before the close of the year. This expansion is a vital component of Aldi’s incredible investment initiative, which features the development of a new supermarket on the Isle of Sheppey.
